Apple Watch Series 8 was Apple's mainstream watch for the 2022/23 cycle, which debuted at Apple's September event with the iPhone 14 lineup.

This device introduced the temperature sensor and Crash Detection features, alongside the flagship Apple Watch Ultra 2.

The wrist temperature sensor provides further insights in Cycle Tracking for women's health. Additional software updates overtime has brought additional functionality, providing a wrist temperature reading in the Vitals app.

Apple's crash detection feature is an emergency SOS capability where the watch can alert emergency services automatically if you've been in a car crash.

Apple also announced low power mode alongside Series 8 with watchOS 9, but this was available on older models too.
