Dive Deeper
iPod nano (3rd generation) was a redesigned version of Apple's small-sized iPod model which essentially looked like the iPod classic had been shrunk down.
Unlike its predecessor which featured a taller, slimmer form factor, this model featured a squarer design with a larger, wider screen. This allowed users to watch content on the device for the first time, including videos and films. Apple also updated the Cover Flow user interface when browsing music by album artwork.
Apple offered this model with the faster flash storage, in 4 or 8GB, retiring the base 2GB storage model.
It was a colourful lineup when compared to some other models, including blue, red, green and later pink ahead of Valentine's day in 2008. The cheaper 4GB model was only available in Silver, with the other colour options exclusive when customers upgraded to 8GB.
Ultimately, the new design would only last one generation as Apple returned to the slimmer design in 2008.
