iPod touch was Apple’s first touchscreen iPod, bringing the Multi-Touch interface first seen on the iPhone to the iPod lineup.
It featured a 3.5-inch widescreen display, a "remarkably thin" 8mm design and built-in Wi-Fi, making it the first iPod capable of connecting to wireless networks.
Available with 8GB or 16GB of flash storage, the first-generation iPod touch supported music, video and photo playback.
Its software included Safari for web browsing, a dedicated YouTube app and the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, which allowed users to browse, preview, purchase and download songs directly over Wi-Fi.
The screen also automatically rotated depending on movement and had an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust display brightness.
The front of the device resembled the iPhone, which Apple had released just months earlier.
