Apple could receive a £2 billion ($2.7 billion) fine over its App Tracking Transparency Framework after a lawsuit was filed at London's Competition Appeal Tribunal today, 2nd September 2026.

The lawsuit has been brought on behalf of app developers, according to a report by Reuters, where Apple is accused of "abusing its power" as it can "impose stricter restrictions on third parties" over it's own services offered on the store.

Apple's App Tracking Transparency Framework (ATTF) was launched in 2021, and is a pop-up that appears when you first open a third-party app, where the user can ask the app not to track.

An example of the pop-up is shown below:

This is seen on a range of apps, including social media giant Facebook and other apps that may track user activity. The pop-up does not appear on any Apple apps, even ones that may track the user.

This potential lawsuit is yet another headache for the consumer tech giant, just weeks after it agreed to make changes to the ATTF in Germany.
