Apple has began rolling out adverts in Apple Maps to users in the US and Canada, following the company's announcement earlier this year.

The company confirmed to 9to5Mac that the rollout began earlier this week, and will continue in the coming weeks.

Ads appear in suggested places, before you search and will appear in search results. All ads served to users are relevant to the search, and feature a blue rectangular 'Ad' label.

The Ads rollout is only in the US and Canada, with customers in the UK, and every other global region avoiding ads (for now).

Apple Ads in Maps joins adverts and sponsored results in the App Store and Apple News app.
