Apple may not offer iPhone 18 Pro in black, and will offer a darker flagship colour instead.

Last year, Apple launched the iPhone 17 Pro in three finishes; Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue and Silver - skipping black entirely. In an interview at the time, Apple's SVP of Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak, said that they had covered all bases by offering a 'fun' colour, darker finish, and neutral silver.

This was much to the disappointment of many who always buy black and could not get the finish they wanted.

It could be the same story this year, with leaker @SonnyDickson on X, posting an image of what appears to be the iPhone 18 Pro sim tray in three colours:

  • silver
  • maroon
  • light blue

The post on X was in response to a MacRumors article, which suggested Apple will offer iPhone 18 Pro in black and skip silver instead.

No additional comments were provided alongside the image.

If this image is correct, Apple will not launch a single iPhone model in black at this year's event. Those looking for a black iPhone would have to consider the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 or iPhone 17e - which is a major step down from the Pro models.

Up until the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple's pro lineup had always had a black or darker grey finish, since the model first debuted in 2019.

The most recent pro iPhone available in black is iPhone 16 Pro, which launched in 2024.
