Apple is reportedly working on a new feature that will label AI-generated content on its music streaming service, expected to launch later this year.

In a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, Apple is said to have emailed its partners about plans to require artists and music providers to label their music if AI was used.

In the email, seen by The Hollywood Reporter, the company said:

"Content providers will be required to include AI Transparency Tags in any instance where AI was used to create a material portion of the content, including tracks that are AI platform generated,"

These requirements come as many creatives continue to speak out against AI, especially in their field. This includes concerns that film, television, art and music could be replaced by content not made by humans in the near future.

Apple continues to balance it's position as a big tech company, that is making advancements in AI, whilst operating a number of services, including Apple Music, Apple TV and it's creative suite of apps.

Earlier this year, the company rebranded its TV service, with a new intro. Apple released a behind-the-scenes look of how this intro was made, potentially to dispel rumours of AI generated content and as a marketing opportunity amid AI concerns.

However, in June Apple also announced major advancements with Siri, though they have carefully positioned it as a 'helpful assistant', rather than a friendly chatbot experience.
