Apple TV has recorded its biggest week of viewership ever, following Apple's record-breaking performance at the Emmy Awards and the arrival of several major new releases.
According to a new report from Deadline, Apple said that viewership numbers were helped by the premiere of the Cold War comedy film Mayday, starring Ryan Gosling, along with weekly episodes of Ted Lasso season 4. In addition to new content, Widow's Bay and Pluribus are said to have helped streaming numbers, following these shows’ respective wins at the Emmys.
Widow's Bay won 14 awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Pluribus took 6 wins, including Outstanding Production Design.
The Numbers
- Widow's Bay viewership up 280% week-over-week
- Pluribus viewership up 200% week-over-week
- Slow Horses Season 6 up 25% compared to first 7 days of Season 5
- Apple TV viewership up 67% year-over-year
What's Currently Running on Apple TV?

Subscribers to the streaming service can currently expect new episodes of Slow Horses Season 6, Ted Lasso Season 4, Last Seen Season 1, Brothers Season 1 and Dark Matter Season 2.
This is a wide-range of content from Sci-Fi and Thriller, to a number of Comedies.
What's Coming to Apple TV?
In October, Apple has these films and shows on the way:
- The Sisters Grimm
- Small Prophets
- Matchbox The Movie
- Tenzing
- Where's Wanda?
- Nocturne
Apple debuted its streaming service in 2019, under then-CEO Tim Cook who helped the company grow its services business. With some previously labelling Apple TV as a loss leader, meaning it doesn't make money, there were concerns that new CEO John Ternus would shut the service down.
However, he has been very supportive of the service attending both the Ted Lasso Season 4 premiere event and celebrating Apple TVs wins at the Emmy Awards a couple of weeks ago.
Ternus referred to Apple TV as "only the beginning", so we can expect the service to mark many more milestones that are yet to come.
