The Apple Watch could get a big redesign next year, according to a new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman says that Apple is "pushing to have a big redesign for its watch ready by next year". He has previously reported that Apple is exploring options for the future of the Apple Watch, which includes experimenting with circular displays.
The Bloomberg report also suggests that Apple is testing a feature where the heart-rate sensor is always on, collecting data throughout the day, though it is unclear when this would drop, and what the feature would be used for.
Other than that, the details of the Apple Watch redesign is still unclear, as Apple seems to still be early in development. This could the the reason why Gurman says that the redesign "could still slip" to next year.
Apple Watch Series 12 & Ultra 4
Before Apple's watch redesign, the company is expected to unveil the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 in a couple weeks time, on the 9th September.
These models are expected to be minor upgrades, with potentially the return of the ceramic cases and new watch bands.
Gurman says that Apple "has tested both white and dark grey" for its ceramic Series 12 models.
Apple's ceramic material was first used in the Apple Watch Series 2, available in white. The Series 3 introduced dark grey alongside white, before Apple skipped ceramic in the Series 4.
Apple last sold ceramic models in 2019 with the Series 5, before dropping the material again. It has not returned since.
Whilst the return of ceramic may be popular, don't expect a major overhaul yet - with the Series 12 shaping up to be a similar device to the Series 10 and 11.
Apple Watch Ultra 4 could be a little more meaningful, with a potentially slimmer chassis, marking the biggest design change to the ultra model since it was introduced.

To conclude, don't expect too much from this year's Apple Watch lineup. Apple instead seems to have it's head set on a redesign in the coming years, and is simply refreshing it's watches each year, to keep them fresh and up-to-date.
