Apple's top leadership including CEO John Ternus and Executive Chairman Tim Cook have paid tribute to Apple co-founder Steve Jobs on the 15th anniversary of his death.
On this day in 2011, Apple's board of directors announced in a short statement that the former Apple CEO had passed away, paying tribute to his "brilliance, passion and energy" and saying that "The world is immeasurably better because of Steve."
15 years later, Apple's leadership have released further reflections on his life and legacy, with the company's CEO saying that he is "forever grateful" for Steve Jobs.
The way Steve taught us to care about every detail, every experience, every person, still guides our work today. Forever grateful.
Additionally Apple's Executive Chairman Tim Cook also reflected on the life of Steve Jobs, saying that he changed the world and personally changed his life forever.
There are people who leave a mark on the world, and then there are people who change it entirely. Steve changed the world and so many lives in the process. He certainly changed my life forever. His spirit lives on in everything he created and everyone he inspired.
Cook was personally recommended to succeed Steve Jobs by the man himself, and stood in as interim CEO on a number of occasions when Jobs took medical leave.
Tim Cook was persuaded to join Apple by Jobs in 1998, working with him for 13 years and eventually becoming his right-hand man as Chief Operating Officer of Apple.
Cook then went on to serve as Apple's CEO for 15 years, overseeing one of the most significant periods of growth in the company's history.
Apple's current CEO, John Ternus, also has a history with Steve Jobs.
Ternus joined Apple in 2001, and subsequently worked under Jobs' leadership for a decade, during a period of time when Apple introduced revolutionary new product lines such as the iPod, iPhone and iPad.
