Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has today announced full Apple Pay and Apple Wallet support across its Bee Network public transport system.

Commuters in Greater Manchester who use the public bus and tram networks across the city can now tap to pay with their iPhone or Apple Watch, the local transport body said in a press release earlier today.

The announcement lists eight different types of tickets that can be bought in Apple Wallet:

  • 1-day Bee Bus
  • 1-day Bee Bus Family - off-peak
  • 7-day Bee Bus
  • Weekend Tram - all zones
  • 7-day Tram - all zones
  • Weekend Tram Family - all zones
  • 1-day Bus + Tram - all zones
  • 7-day Bus + Tram - all zones

Today's roll-out follows the introduction of 'Our Pass' to Apple Wallet in August, which allowed 16-18 year olds a convenient way to access free bus travel around the city during the summer.

Now, all adults and families who use the transport network will benefit from the convenience of Apple Pay.

The Transport Commissioner for Greater Manchester said in a statement that:

"The Bee Network is modernising public transport, making it easier for people to travel around Greater Manchester on trams, buses and, soon, trains."

This suggests travellers in Manchester could soon also see support roll out for trains.

The Bee Network is the only public transport body in the UK that supports Apple Wallet, with support yet-to-come for Transport for London, National Rail and bus operators across the country such as Stagecoach or Arriva.

TfGM says that you need to be running iOS 27 to use these new features, which is compatible with iPhone 11 or newer.
