Apple is expected to release a new Apple Pencil (USB-C) and new Apple Pencil Pro next year, according to a report by Mark Gurman.

The new Apple Pencil models would likely be a simple lineup refresh, where the company will continue to offer a lower-end pencil with the charging port and a top-end model that supports wireless charging, Find My and all the best features.

The report suggests that the new Apple Pencils will have their batteries redesigned, to comply with upcoming European Union regulatory requirements, where consumer electronics must have easily replaceable batteries.

Gurman says that the batteries in the current models are a "nightmare to repair" because the devices are filled with "glued-together parts".

The new Apple Pencil models are expected to be released alongside the new iPad Pro, in Spring 2027.

It is unclear which iPad models the new Apple Pencils will support, and if any new features will be introduced.
