iPhone 12 was the mainstream consumer iPhone sold during the 2020/21 product cycle. This iPhone remained in the lineup for 1 more year, as a cheaper alternative to its successor, the iPhone 13.

This generation introduced a new flat edge design, reverting back to the pre-iPhone 6 design. The notch remained the same size as when it was first introduced on iPhone X in 2017.

Apple also introduced 5G to the iPhone for the first time with the iPhone 12 lineup.

This device was the last mainstream iPhone that started with 64GB of storage.
