Dive Deeper
MacBook Air (M1) was one of Apple's first own-silicon Macs, alongside MacBook Pro and Mac mini.
The M1 MacBook Air launched with 256GB of base storage. The company quietly sold a 128GB variant for its education and business customers. As the device got older, 128GB MacBook Air M1 models began to appear on the second-hand market.
The external design of the first Apple Silicon MacBook Air was the same as its Intel predecessor, with the tapered design, speaker grills and thicker top bezel on the display.
As Apple released new Apple Silicon Mac models over the coming years, including the redesigned M2 and M3 series, many still opted for the M1 as it became great value user still felt no need to upgrade.
