Bloomberg has today reported that Apple Fellow Phil Schiller has stepped down from his duties running the App Store and Apple Event, six years after he stepped down as the company's SVP of Worldwide Marketing.

The report, referencing "people with knowledge of the matter", said that the change was made just days ago, ahead of Tim Cook's departure as CEO.

Schiller, 66, is not leaving Apple, and will remain Apple Fellow, to work on "unspecified initiatives".

Phil Schiller had previously worked in Apple's marketing division for three decades, before handing the top job over to Greg Joswiak in August 2020.

He has worked for both Steve Jobs and Tim Cook, helping to launch the App Store in 2008 and unveiled many products including early iPhone models, the 2013 'Trash Can' Mac Pro and AirPods.

This is just the latest change to Apple's leadership team, as John Ternus becomes CEO tomorrow and Tim Cook transitions to the Executive Chairman role, after 15 years.

App Store responsibilities have reportedly transitioned to services chief Eddy Cue, whose number of responsibilities continues to increase. Cue now oversees Apple Services, health and the App Store.

Day-to-day running of the App Store will fall under Carson Oliver, an App Store 'veteran', according to the report.
