iPhone 3G was released on 11 July 2008 in 22 countries including the UK. This release highlighted Microsoft Exchange support right out of the box and the introduction of third-party apps from the App Store thanks to iPhone OS 2.
This release introduced 3G connectivity and enabled users to be on a call whilst browsing the web, checking emails or using Maps.
The 8GB model remained on sale as a budget-friendly option once iPhone 3GS released in June 2009.
