Apple's upcoming Apple Watch Series 12, and by extension the Apple Watch Ultra 4, could receive two new hardware features alongside two new watchOS 27 software improvements.
Macrumors on Monday shared a post from one of it's forum members, who found these potential changes hidden in watchOS 27 beta code.
Readiness App
Apple could be working on a so called 'Readiness' app for watchOS, and is apparently part of the "default Home Screen layout ordering immediately after the Workout app".
The poster believes it is related to recovery post-workout, but is separate from the existing Vitals app.
A new 'Readiness' app, which also appears as 'Cobalt' in the code, is not currently a feature as part of the watchOS 27 betas.
Improved Strength Workouts
Strength workouts may soon be able to provide the user with more metrics, according to the leaker.
This includes individual sets, repetition counts, weight, equipment, body side, and duration.
New Sensing System
There is also a "new optical-sensing family called Sunstone4p", which could link to a revision of the heart-sensing capabilities of Apple Watch, potentially linked to new hardware.
128GB Storage
The forums post has also identified a Samsung storage device in the watchOS beta called "T8320". They say this identifier means 128GB, based on standard NAND naming.
This could suggest that Apple will double the storage on its Apple Watch models, from 64GB to 128GB.
We'll Find Out Soon
Theres just one more day until the Apple Event, where Apple is expected to unveil these new Apple Watch models alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, foldable iPhone and potentially some new AirPods and home devices.
Everything Apple will cover the event live on our Apple Event Hub, as the announcements take place.
