Apple's 39 UK retail stores opened early on Friday, 23rd October as the iPhone Duo finally launches after a month-long wait. However, customers hoping to buy Apple's first foldable iPhone without a pre-order face a significant hurdle: Apple has confirmed that walk-in stock is limited.
Apple announced its first-ever foldable iPhone on the 9th of September 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, AirPods 5 and new Apple Watch models. These other devices have been out for over a month now, though many have been waiting for the iPhone Duo, a device which has been branded by many as the first real change to the iPhone since the original.
Limited Walk-in Availability
It was a high-demand product when pre-orders went live last week, selling out launch day stock within minutes, with Apple's website currently stating a January 2027 dispatch date.
Due to these long waits, fans who are still looking at getting their hands on the iPhone Duo on launch day have one last chance; the Apple Store.
However, the company told MacRumors earlier in the week that:
Apple Stores will have limited iPhone Duo available for walk-in customers.
This means those first in the door at 8am on Friday morning were the lucky ones, but stock will run out quickly.
Limited availability applies to the UK and 13 other nations which are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the US. The company also noted availability in Italy at certain retail locations.
No Walk-in Availability
Unfortunately, Apple has also confirmed to MacRumors that there is no walk-in availability in France, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and the UAE.
So, if you live in one of these countries and were planning on visiting a store today for an iPhone Duo, don't do it as there will be none available.
