Apple has today announced the next generation Apple TV 4K, with the same external design but major internal improvements, including a new chip, Siri AI support and improved performance.

On the outside, you wouldn't be able to tell this is a new Apple TV, as it features the same black cube-shaped design with rounded corners, and an Apple logo on the top.

This is the ninth TV box Apple has released since the product line began in 2007, and since its redesign in 2010, has not changed much appearance-wise.

Despite the minor external design changes, the new model features an A19 chip, up from the A15 Bionic in the old model. The A15 Bionic was first used in the iPhone 13 lineup in 2021, whereas the A19 made its debut just last year in the iPhone 17.

This new chip supports Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, which should significantly improve the experience when using the Siri Remote.

For gamers, the new chip will boost graphics performance when playing Apple Arcade and other games through the Apple TV 4K. Other users may also notice the performance improvements with reduced loading times when using tvOS.

Summary: everything new

  • A19 chip, up from A15 Bionic
  • Similar external design
  • Siri AI support
  • Apple Intelligence support
  • improved performance
