Apple has today unveiled its latest generation Apple Silicon chips, refreshed Mac desktops and some new accessories - including a new Apple Polishing Cloth. Here's everything new:

New Chips

Apple has debuted three new M-series chips, to power its latest generation of Mac desktops. These are:

  • M6
  • M5 Max
  • M5 Ultra

Apple's new M6 chip is seemingly built for AI workflows, with a 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU and dual 16-core neural engine. The chip also received neural accelerators, which were first debuted in the M5 chip.

The company has also unveiled its two most powerful chips, the M5 Max and M5 Ultra.

These chips are extremely powerful, with M5 Ultra configurable up to a 36-core CPU and 80-core GPU.

M6 & M5 Pro Mac mini

Apple has refreshed the Mac mini, replacing the M4 & M4 Pro generation that launched almost two years ago.

Mac mini now starts at a much higher price of £899, with no storage tier bumps. The base model remains with a 256GB SSD.

The student discount still applies, with £100 off.

Apple seems to be pushing AI performance with the latest generation of Mac mini, upgrading to a dual 16-core neural engine, the addition of neural accelerators and up to 170GB/s of memory bandwidth.

The new Mac mini has Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 6.

The device has the external design as it's predecessor, and the same selection of ports.

M5 Max & M5 Ultra Mac Studio

Apples high-end Mac desktop, Mac Studio, has been refreshed with the new M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips.

The desktop now starts with 36GB of memory and 512GB of SSD storage, which can be upgraded to as high as 256gb of memory and 16TB of storage, depending on the chip and configuration.

Apple says a higher end 512GB unified memory model, will be available in late October, matching the highest spec M3 Ultra device when that first launched.

Apple Polishing Cloth

Apple's infamous polishing cloth has received its first ever refresh since launch in October 2021.

The cloth, a small microfibre piece of fabric to clean your Apple displays, originally launched at £19.

It is not clear which version of polishing cloth this is, thought it appears to be the nano-texture cloth that comes with nano-texture Apple devices, such as the Studio Display.

Mac Keyboards (USA)

Apple's standalone Magic Keyboards for Mac have had a refresh on Apple's US store, to feature icons on several buttons including the enter key, backspace, shift and caps lock.

The transition from words to icons began with the new MacBooks earlier this year, and iconography is the standard on all other keyboard models globally.

40W Dynamic Power Adapter

Apple has rolled out its compact dynamic power adapter across Europe and Vietnam with support for the European two-round-pin plug, also known as the Type C Europlug.
