Apple is expected to release a new 'Apple Upgrade' program next week in the US, according to a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

The program, known as Apple Upgrade, will be a system where customers can lease an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch from the Apple Store. Klarna, a financial services company, is believed to be the financial partner of this program.

Apple Upgrade will be available in the US only, at both physical Apple locations and the Apple Store online.

Mark Gurman's report suggests that the program could expand to more nations over time.

Customers will be able to lease iPhones and Apple Watches for a 24 month period and can lease iPads and Macs over 36 months.

Devices leased from Apple as part of this program can be paid off early, upgraded during the term or kept at the end of the leasing period - but additional fees could be incurred.

Users may also have the option to return the device at the end of its period, according to the report.

The new Apple Upgrade program may work in a similar way to Amazon monthly payments, an interest-free way to pay for items in instalments, including Apple products.

Though, unlike Amazon's system, customers are expected to face a soft credit check before they can lease a device.

The launch date is set for next Tuesday, 28th July, according to the report.
