Apple's design teams are currently considering the future of the Apple Watch, as they begin to plan the devices biggest overhaul yet, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In the most recent edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman suggests the company is considering different types of screens, sizes and even screen-less models, like a Whoop.

They are also looking at expanding both its budget and premium options, expanding beyond the Apple Watch SE on the low-end, and the Hermés and Ultra on the high-end.

Mark Gurman even says that round screens have been considered, but admits that these are "unlikely to hit the market."

Despite these plans, the Apple Watch lineup is not expected to change that much any time soon. The upcoming Apple Watch Series 12 next month is expected to be a simple spec-bump update, with bigger changes coming from 2027.

Final Thoughts

The Apple Watch is due for an overhaul, as it maintains the same overall design language as the original model, that released over a decade ago.

The lineup has been stagnant the past few years. The Apple Watch Series 11 is almost identical to the Series 10, shipping with the same S10 chip, identical case, same features and same finishes (though the Series 11 is available in Space Grey).

As Apple focuses on its big iPhone overhaul, with the introduction of a foldable device, the company may draw it's attention to the watch next year.
