Apple has quietly revealed a new collection of statistics highlighting Mac adoption in business, offering a rare insight into the company as it further expands into the enterprise market.

Last week, Apple added a new Business is better with Mac. Facts. section to their Apple for work page.

These facts include a range of interesting figures, from how many companies use Mac to what the top-choice work laptop is among employees.

Here are the key statistics:

  • 57% of enterprise AI models can run locally on MacBook Air
  • 84% of top US companies use Mac at scale
  • 55% fewer IT help tickets when using Mac
  • MacBook is the #1 laptop among higher-education students worldwide

As Apple has published these figures for marketing-purposes, they naturally focus on the benefits of choosing Mac, rather than the negatives.

Apple says its claim that over eighty percent of top US companies use Mac at scale, refers to LinkedIn's 'Top Companies 2026' report.

The report, which is not directly linked, but believed to be this one published in April, includes major American companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Walmart, Nvidia, and Apple.

Notably, Apple's competitors are included in this report - though not all businesses listed in the LinkedIn article use Mac, and Apple did not specify which companies are included in the 84%.

Fewer IT tickets when using Mac

Apple commissioned Forrester Consulting to take what is called a 'Total Economic Impact' study on the use of Mac at work.

The report found that "Mac devices reduce the number of support tickets by 55%", suggesting that Apple believes Mac can reduce the support burden compared to other systems.

This study claims that "improved automation and reliability enable the composite’s IT teams to support more devices", suggesting that Mac allows for businesses to expand their network of devices further.

No.1 laptop among higher-education students

Apple commissioned a study by Futuresource in December of last year to gather this statistic.

The company says that "Your future workforce already knows and loves Mac", potentially trying to alleviate fears that no one will know how to use their computer, if a company switches to Mac.

MacBooks are a staple of university campuses globally, where the device is a common sighting among students.

Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) is one of the UK's biggest retail banks by market share, serving about 28 million customers across its three banking brands, according to their website.

A new report on Apple's Business page takes a look into the banking group's switch to Mac, which is said to be helping their "digital transformation."

The report highlights that LBG previously only used PCs, and that their IT network was a "complex mix of systems and code". Apple is likely getting across that businesses can replace complex legacy systems with Mac.

As a major banking firm, the switch has provided Apple with an opportunity to promote security and privacy.

In the report, LBG's Director of Security Engineering and Operations said "Mac 100% meets our security requirements.".

Lloyds is currently undergoing a major transformation, as they retire their 173 year old Halifax brand this year, moving over thousands of customer accounts to their Lloyds Bank brand.

Whilst not directly related to Mac deployment, the group will be relying on Apple's products as part of this transition.

Final Thoughts

These new statistics and reports from Apple show that the company is growing Mac's market share in the business and enterprise market, in addition to the consumer market.

Whilst Microsoft Windows remains the dominant enterprise platform, Apple is becoming more competitive in the space, as they continue to improve the Mac with brand-new models, Apple Silicon and new macOS software releases.
