Apple is set to close its Festival Place store in Basingstoke, England, as the company reopens its redesigned Reading Store to serve nearby customers later this year.

In a statement to AppleInsider, Apple said:

"We've loved serving the Basingstoke community for the last 15 years and look forward to welcoming customers at nearby Apple Stores, and on apple.com, the Apple Store app, and at Apple Authorised Resellers and Service Providers throughout South East England."

Apple Festival Place opened in August of 2011 and will permanently close in November. Whilst the exact date has not been disclosed, it is expected to be later in the month as Apple is set to reopen a redesigned Apple Store at The Oracle, Reading in December.

Festival Place will continue to serve Basingstoke for a few more months, but is temporarily closed today. It reopens tomorrow as usual from 9:30 to 19:00, but is noted as having Special hours, so "Some services, such as Genius Bar, may not be available."

Residents who live in Basingstoke, and wish to travel to the newly-expanded Reading store in December, will have to make a roughly 40 minute trip to the nearby city.

Apple recently completed a similar overhaul to its Apple Briarwood store in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as the company continues to refresh its older-style stores.
