Incoming Apple CEO John Ternus has made a public appearance alongside Tim Cook, at an Apple TV event to mark the premier of Ted Lasso Season 4, where he appears ready for his new role representing the company.
The premiere, where guests were invited to watch the first two episodes of the new season ahead of time, was attended by the incoming CEO and his soon-to-be predecessor, Tim Cook.
Both of them were wearing the same navy suit with a 'Believe' pin, a motto that appears in the show, possibly symbolic of a smooth CEO transition that Apple will be much of the same under John Ternus.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman posted the image of both executives to X, saying that they are "taking this whole continuity message really seriously".
Interviews
John Ternus has rarely been seen outside of Apple product keynotes and interviews promoting new hardware, so it was different to see him representing Apple's streaming service.
Ternus told DRM News that there is "such tremendous momentum right now on Apple TV", and has confirmed theres no plan to stop, telling them that Apple are "just going to keep building on that."
There were some concerns that a 'product guy' CEO may cut back on expensive services, such as Apple TV, which is said to be losing $1B a year, according to 9to5Mac.
But this does not seem to be a problem for the incoming leadership.
Tim Cooks View
In the same interview, Tim Cook seemed to boast about how great the transfer is going, showing his roots as an operations expert.
Cook said that they have "really set this bar for the transition to be the best ever", calling it a "textbook example".
He also told DRM News that Ternus is "ready to be a first class CEO for our first class company", a major endorsement from the man who has spent the last 15 years building the Apple we know today.
Everything Apple's View
Apple has taken the opportunity to bring out John Ternus ahead of the leadership transition, to give interviews representing the company as a whole, rather than just his hardware group.
Tim Cook has used the publicity of the event to back his successor, to potentially help ease any shareholder concerns of the transition.
Today has given us the closest glimpse yet of what Apple under Ternus will look like, with just five weeks remaining in Tim Cook's 15 year run as CEO.
On 1st September, Tim Cook will become Apple Executive Chairman and continue to represent Apple in politics and government policy.
Johny Srouji, the Apple executive behind Apple Silicon, took over the entire hardware group from John Ternus in April, in the newly created Chief Hardware Officer role.
