Earlier today, Apple announced it's record breaking Q3 results, with a total revenue that surpassed $100 Billion USD.
Here are the key takeaways from Apple's Q3 2026 earnings report:
Apple Now Has 1.5 Billion Subscribers Across Its Services
As reported by CNBC, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that the company has 1.5 Billion active paid subscriptions across Apple Services, iCloud and the App Store, in which it takes a cut.
Apple hit 1 billion just 3 years ago, which means the company has seen a 50% increase in active subscriptions since 2023.
It is not clear how many of these subscriptions are through the App Store, and Apple has not broken down the subscription numbers for each of their services, such as Apple Music and Apple TV.
Apple's Marks Best Ever Q3 Earnings
Total revenue for this quarter sits at $109.4 billion, up from $94 billion this time last year.
This is the highest June revenue ever for the company, despite no new hardware releases since the launch of AirPods Max 2 on 1st April.
Mac Is The Fastest-growing Product Category
Mac has hit over $10.3 billion in revenue, up from $8 billion last year. This is a 28.7% increase for the product category.
This increase could be as Apple continues to sell it's entry-level MacBook Neo and is selling out of Mac mini's and Mac Studio's, which have seen demand soar thanks to AI workloads.
Research & Development Costs Soar To $11.73 Billion
Apple is continuing to spend more in research & development (R&D) than it has in the past, as hardware engineer John Ternus is set to take over as CEO in September.
The company spent $11.73 billion in R&D, according to 9to5Mac, which is up 32% when compared to Q3 of 2025.
Tim Cook reportedly said that Apple was "clearly investing more" into research and development.
Cook's Last Q3 Results As CEO
These results are significant in multiple ways. In addition to record revenues, Apple's long term CEO of 15 years has announced his last quarterly results.
Tim Cook's first results as CEO was Q1 of the 2012 fiscal year, which ended December 31 2011.
The company reported total revenue of $46.33 Billion, which is lower than iPhone revenue alone in Cook's last quarter. In other metrics, Tim Cook's final quarter as CEO is up 150.5% compared to his first.
