Apple unexpectedly released some new Mac desktops this week, unveiling two new Apple Silicon chips and even refreshed some of it's accessories.

Apple Announces 'Surprise and shine' September Event

The annual iPhone event has been announced by Apple, taking place on Wednesday, 9th September at 6PM BST.

The event has been tag lined 'Surprise and shine' and, as usual, Apple may have hidden a message in the Apple logo.

Ads in Apple Maps Are Now Live - But Not in the UK

Apple has began to roll out adverts in Apple Maps to customers in the US and Canada, after announcing the plans earlier this year.

The rollout has been met with negative feedback against Apple, with many people saying that Apple should leave the ads business altogether.

Ads in Apple Maps joins the App Store and Apple News app.

Apple CEO Tim Cook Pays Tribute to Dolly Parton

Tim Cook has paid tribute to US country musician Dolly Parton, who died this week, aged 80.

In a statement on social media, Apple's CEO said that Parton was a "brilliant songwriter, cultural icon, and dedicated philanthropist".

Tim Cook and John Ternus Host Pokémon at Apple Park

Apple has hosted the Pokemon Company at Apple Park to talk gaming and introduce the team to John Ternus, Apple's incoming CEO, as part of the continued Apple leadership transition period.

In a playful video on X, Tim Cook posted a video of himself, Ternus, Pokémon's CEO and Pikachu touring Apple Park.

Apple TV Gets More Expensive in the US

On Friday, Apple increased prices of their Apple TV subscription and Apple One individual plan in the US. Both plans received $2 price hikes.

  • Apple TV: Now $14.99
  • Apple One individual plan: Now $21.95

The price increases have not affected other nations, such as the UK.

On Monday, 24th August 2026, Tim Cook marked 15 years as Apple CEO. This is the first time an Apple CEO has celebrated this milestone, since Cook became the company's longest serving CEO last year.
